Job Description

CET was contracted to offer design and consultancy services for the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago. The system was divided into five subsections:

1) AV Archiving facility

System overview: The AV server/and archiving facility is a dedicated system for (1) the repair and conformation of many different formats, both digital and analog, of printed, audio and video media (2) the conversion and compression of this media to a fixed data format, (3) the in-house indexing, age rating, cross-referencing and cataloging of each piece of stored material to allow for (4) the retrieval of the material at any workstation on the network that has the required software application and equipment.

2) MATV distribution system

System overview: This system is used to retrieve audio visual content from specific building presentation areas via camera and mic access and (1) redistribute via MATV system to any video equipped room in the building (2) record AV content of any presentation from rooms (3) generate material for use in AV server. (4) Distribute almost any format of AV footage to any of the building locations that have video display capability. This system is integrated into the building MATV system.

Cable Management: Floating cable floor allowing for easy cable access and upgrades and allows easy access to wire management within equipment racks.

3) Outdoor Amphitheatre

System overview: This facility is capable of public art related performances including hosting theatrical, musical, dance, press/media gatherings and so forth. Because of the facility is open to the weather items have been designated as weatherproof or portable where necessary.

4) Cinema & Related Projection Room

System overview: The cinema/projection room facility employs for standard movie theatre applications using video format footage and surround sound audio. The room also has the capacity for full multimedia presentation and lecture/training applications. This room also has the ability to present footage from the AV server over a network connection.
